Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 4, 2026

RemindMe (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the RemindMe mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and what choices you have.

By using RemindMe, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your phone number to create and authenticate your account. Your phone number is also used when you share reminders or participate in groups — recipients who don’t have you in their contacts may see your phone number to identify you.

Reminders and routines. The content you create in RemindMe — including titles, notes, dates, times, recurrence patterns, and any attachments or locations you add. Locations are addresses you type in; we do not access your device’s GPS.

Contacts. When you grant access to your contacts, we read names and phone numbers on your device to enable @mentions and sharing. We never upload your contact list to our servers. To check which of your contacts use RemindMe, we send only hashed (anonymized) phone numbers — the raw numbers never leave your device.

Groups. When you create or join a group, we store the group name, member list, and any shared reminders associated with it.

Feedback. When you submit feedback through the app, we collect the text you provide.

Voice input. When you use voice to create reminders, speech is processed entirely on your device by Apple’s built-in speech recognition. No audio is sent to our servers. The resulting text is treated like any other reminder you type.

Waitlist. If you join a waitlist for an upcoming platform (such as Android), we collect your email address to notify you when it becomes available.

Information collected automatically

Device and app information. We collect basic technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, timezone, and IP address. This is collected through our crash reporting, analytics, and infrastructure logging services.

Usage analytics. We collect anonymous usage events (such as which features you use and how often) to improve the app. Analytics data is retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted.

Referral analytics. When you join through a referral link, we record which user invited you so we can measure the effectiveness of our referral program. This data is stored internally and never exposed to other users.

Crash reports. When the app crashes, we collect diagnostic information including crash logs and your account identifier to help us fix issues. Crash data is managed by our crash reporting provider and retained for approximately 90 days.

Information stored only on your device

Some data never leaves your device, including your app preferences (such as time format and appearance settings), your local draft queue, and a cache of which contacts use RemindMe. This data is not sent to our servers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising purposes, though we may use third-party analytics services that help us measure app performance and ad attribution.

Legal basis for processing

We process your data under the following legal bases:

AI Processing

RemindMe uses AI to turn your natural-language input into scheduled reminders and routines. Here’s how that works:

What the AI receives. When you create a reminder, your text is sent to a third-party AI provider along with your existing reminders, routines, timezone, and stored scheduling context. This allows the AI to understand references like “same time as last week” or schedule around your existing commitments. The AI provider may briefly cache your data for up to 24 hours for operational purposes, after which it is automatically deleted. The provider may also retain data as required for safety and abuse monitoring.

Your data is not used for training. The AI provider operates under a data processing agreement and does not use your data to train or improve AI models.

Scheduling context. Over time, RemindMe infers scheduling context from your reminders — such as preferred times for recurring activities, relationships between people you mention, and patterns in how you organize your day. This context is stored by RemindMe (not the AI provider), encrypted on our servers, and is used solely to improve your own scheduling experience. It is deleted when you delete your account.

Encryption after processing. After the AI processes your input and creates your reminders, all data is immediately encrypted at rest on our servers. Raw AI session logs are retained for 72 hours for safety and abuse auditing.

De-identified data. We create de-identified summaries of AI scheduling sessions to measure and improve our service quality. Personal identifiers are removed from these summaries, and we do not attempt to re-identify them. De-identified data may be used for any purpose permitted by applicable law and is retained indefinitely.

Sharing and Groups

What recipients see. When you share a reminder or participate in a group, recipients can see the reminder content — including its title, notes, dates, and any attachments or locations. Recipients who don’t have you in their contacts may see your phone number to identify you.

@Mentions and contact names. When you @mention a contact, the name from your address book is shared with the AI to improve the accuracy of the items it creates. For example, “@Family @Dylan’s graduation party” may produce an item titled “Dylan’s Graduation Party.” The contact name as stored in your address book is what the AI uses, so it may appear in the resulting item title visible to all recipients.

Content shared with others. Once you share a reminder, recipients may save, copy, or reshare its content. RemindMe cannot control what recipients do with content they receive.

Contact discovery. To show you which of your contacts use RemindMe, we check hashed (anonymized) phone numbers against our servers. We never upload raw phone numbers or your contact list. You can stop contact discovery at any time by revoking contacts permission in your device settings.

Notifications. Reminder notifications may appear on your lock screen and in notification banners, displaying the reminder title and relevant details. Live Activities may display reminder information persistently on your lock screen or Dynamic Island.

Third-Party Services

Service providers. We use the following categories of service providers to operate RemindMe:

All service providers operate under data processing agreements and are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes beyond what is necessary to provide their services.

Legal process. We may access, preserve, or share your information if we believe in good faith that it is reasonably necessary to: comply with applicable law, legal process, or government request; enforce our terms; or protect the rights, property, or safety of RemindMe, our users, or the public.

Data Security

Your data is encrypted both in transit (using TLS) and at rest on our servers. We use per-user encryption keys managed through a cloud key management service, so each user’s data is encrypted independently.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide the service and fulfill the purposes described in this policy:

When you delete your account, all your personal data stored on our servers is deleted immediately. Items you shared individually with others will be removed from their accounts. Items you shared through a group will remain available to the group. Some data that is subject to automatic expiration — such as analytics, AI session logs, crash reports, and infrastructure logs — may take up to 90 days to fully expire from all systems.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email listed below. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California residents. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

International Data Transfers

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States operated by Google Cloud Platform. When your data is transferred outside your country of residence, it is protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the data processing agreements we maintain with our service providers. Where applicable, we also rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Children

RemindMe is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country, which may be up to 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If you believe a child under this age has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app and ask for your renewed consent before you can continue using the service. For non-material changes, continued use of RemindMe after the update constitutes acceptance. We will always post the current version with an updated effective date.
